Meet Frank, a seasoned veteran in the car business with an impressive track record of two decades. Throughout his remarkable journey, Frank has discovered his true passion lies in the relationships he cultivates with the people around him, be it his dedicated staff or the cherished customers he serves. Their satisfaction and smiles fuel his drive to excel every single day. Now, as he embarks on a thrilling new chapter as part of the VW brand, Frank’s excitement knows no bounds.
When not immersing himself in the world of cars, he can often be found engrossed in a good book, honing his golf swing on the green, exploring new destinations with wanderlust in his heart, or engaging in a captivating game of chess.
Meet John, an Edmontonian born and raised. Throughout his life, he developed a strong passion for staying active and fit, which led him to love working out regularly. Besides his dedication to fitness, John has a significant interest in basketball, particularly the Toronto Raptors.
Professionally, John has been in the car industry for seven years, gaining valuable experience in various renowned brands. He spent six years working at Volkswagen, followed by one year at Nissan, and most recently, he had the opportunity to work at BMW. Each experience contributed to his growth and expertise in the field, making him the perfect fit as West Edmonton Volkswagen’s General Sales Manager.
When John isn’t on the basketball court or at work, he enjoys indulging in his hobbies. He is a huge movie enthusiast, especially superhero movies, being drawn to their thrilling action and inspiring characters. Additionally, he has a passion for cooking and loves trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
Meet Robert, our Director of Finance. Born in Bosnia, Robert moved to Edmonton at the young age of 7 and has called it home ever since. He is a driven individual who has used passion and perseverance to overcome any obstacle. With 8 years of experience in finance, and over 10 years of automotive experience, Robert is excited to take on the position of Director of Finance and build a team of like-minded and passionate individuals who share his vision. When he’s not at work, you can find Robert cheering on the Edmonton Oilers, spending time with his two kids, and making a healthy lifestyle a top priority.
Meet Bryson, our dedicated Parts Manager. Offering 17 years of experience in the automotive industry and over a decade with Volkswagen his passion for VW parts and accessories is unparalleled. Bryson has a true passion for his work and takes pride in his ability to provide top-notch service to his customers. When he’s not working, Bryson is part of the Edmonton and Canadian music scene and can be found producing music, songwriting and performing Live. In his free time, Bryson can often be found spending quality time with his family, four-legged friends, and spouse. With his years of experience and diverse interests, Bryson brings a unique perspective to everything he does.
Meet Lanny, our experienced Service Manager. Lanny is a true Edmontonian at heart, and he loves living and working in this city. He is not only a Master Volkswagen Technician but also an expert in Volkswagen cars, thanks to his experience as the leader of the local Volkswagen Car Club in his twenties. His ultimate goal is to deliver an exceptional level of service to every customer who walks through our doors. As a Service Manager, Lanny finds great satisfaction in helping customers through stressful situations, and he takes pride in providing them with the highest level of Volkswagen knowledge and experience.
After 11 years as a Volkswagen Technician before transitioning to Shop Foreman and Service Manager roles, Lanny is passionate about supporting young apprentices and helping them grow into skilled Journeypersons. We are excited to support both high school and NAIT Automotive programs with hiring and work experience programs.
Bob is an experienced automotive industry veteran with over 20 years of experience as a Dealer Principal, most of which have been with the Volkswagen family! Bob is currently the co-Dealer Principal of Vancouver Volkswagen, the number 1 retailer in the VW Canada family, and also the Dealer Principal of North Edmonton Kia!
Bob went to school in Edmonton and after several years in SE Alberta happily returned to our city several years ago and currently lives in Laurier Heights with his family and 2 dogs. He is a passionate Oilers fan and a huge community supporter, and has recently combined these passions into a campaign for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation that was successfully launched with the help of some of the Oilers young stars!
When we asked Bob about his thoughts about opening West Edmonton Volkswagen he was quick to answer:
“I couldn’t be more excited to bring Volkswagen back to West Edmonton and to be building this enormous state-of-the-art facility for local VW owners to enjoy. And I am absolutely thrilled to be opening the first Volkswagen mall store in North America right inside the heart of Canada’s biggest mall, West Edmonton Mall! These two projects will truly give Edmontonian’s priority access to the Volkswagen brand for the first time”

Bob Aaltonen and Sjon Wynia join forces to launch their second family-run Volkswagen Store in Western Canada, following the acquisition of Vancouver Volkswagen in 2021. Bob and Sjon are passionate Volkswagen dealers who have both owned their own Volkswagen dealerships for over 15 years, and the experience allowed them to quickly guide Vancouver Volkswagen to one of the top volume spots in the country will also establishing the store as the largest EV dealership in the Volkswagen Canada family. They couldn’t be more excited to bring Volkswagen back to West Edmonton and concurrently to launch the first Volkswagen EV store in North America, right here inside West Edmonton mall!
