Community Initiatives

We are proud supporters of the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, the Kids with Cancer Society, the Ben Stelter Foundation, and many other local groups that make up the great community we live and work in every day.

We passionately believe in supporting our community and especially our children. Children are our future.  We focus our efforts on them and helping them when they need it the most.  We support the critical organizations that deliver this result in our community such as the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, the Kids with Cancer Society and the Ben Stelter Foundation.  These amazing people and organizations that look after our children need all the support we can provide. Thanks to your incredible support, we've raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to strengthen our community. With your continued generosity, we hope to grow this impact even further!

Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation Donation

At West Edmonton Volkswagen, we are proud to support organizations that make a difference in the lives of children facing illness, injury, or other challenges. As part of our commitment to giving back, we've been making annual donations to the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation to help provide critical support for young patients and their families. Their work has a profound impact, offering hope and assistance to those who need it most. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an important cause and support the foundation's incredible efforts in our community.

Let's Shutout Cancer

In October 2025, West Edmonton Volkswagen teamed up with the Kids with Cancer Society (KWCS) and the Edmonton Oilers to host Let's Shutout Cancer -- a private family skate for children and families courageously facing childhood cancer.

The event brought together Oilers players Calvin Pickard, Andrew Mangiapane, Troy Stecher, Ty Emberson, and Isaac Howard, alongside special guests Ashley Callingbull and Cecily Eklund, for an unforgettable afternoon of laughter, inspiration, and community spirit.

Moments like these remind us why our partnership with KWCS matters -- to bring joy, hope, and connection to families who need it most.

Stollery Hospital Visits Program

At West Edmonton Volkswagen, we are proud to partner with players from our Edmonton Oilers to raise funds that go back to these organizations and especially proud of our Stollery Hospital Visits program where players join us onsite at the Stollery to spend time with patients and their families and bring a little joy into their lives when they need it the most.  With the support of these players, we have been excited to host several signing events and community auctions over the years.

Ben Stelter Foundation Donation

At West Edmonton Volkswagen, we are proud to support organizations that make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer. As part of our commitment to giving back, we made a donation to the Ben Stelter Foundation to help provide critical support for young patients and their families. Their work has a profound impact, offering hope and assistance to those who need it most. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an important cause and support the foundation's incredible efforts in our community.

Cecily & Cosmo's Book Launch

At West Edmonton Volkswagen, we are dedicated to supporting children and families facing childhood cancer. We were honored to host the official launch of Kindness Coin, a heartfelt book written by two incredible young authors, Cecily and Cosmo, who are bravely battling brain cancer. This inspiring book not only raises awareness for childhood cancer but also gives back to the Ben Stelter Foundation, helping children like Cecily and Cosmo in their journey. Through our partnership, we were proud to support the Kids with Cancer Society and the Ben Stelter Foundation, ensuring more kids receive the care and resources they need.

We are thrilled to collaborate with childhood authors and cancer warriors Cecily & Cosmo as they write their second book. Keep an eye out for it this spring!

Ryan McLeod Merch Launch

In 2023, we proudly partnered with Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan McLeod (#71) to bring his vision for the Cloudy Collection to life--a stylish and casual clothing line with a purpose. More than just apparel, this collection is a way to give back, as 100% of the purchase price goes directly to the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation. These funds help provide critical care, medical advancements, and support for children and families across Alberta, making a meaningful difference in their lives.

Oilers Signing Events

At West Edmonton Volkswagen, we are committed to hosting events that bring our community together while raising funds for our valued charity partners. Through our ongoing partnerships with Edmonton Oilers players, we've had the privilege of organizing exciting signing events where fans can meet their favorite players while supporting important causes. Every dollar raised at these events goes directly to organizations like the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, helping provide critical care and support for children and families in need.

These events are at the heart of our mission to give back, creating memorable experiences while making a real impact in our community. We're honored to continue working with Oilers players to support causes that matter, ensuring our fundraising efforts benefit those who need it most.

Skating for Smiles, Hope, and Community

At West Edmonton Volkswagen, community isn't just part of what we do -- it's at the heart of who we are.

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, we were proud to partner with the Kids with Cancer Society (Edmonton) to host a private family skate for children and families bravely facing childhood cancer -- giving these incredible kids a chance to simply be kids for the day.

The rink came alive with laughter, energy, and the unmistakable spirit of teamwork that defines Edmonton. Families laced up their skates and hit the ice alongside some very special guests -- including Edmonton Oilers players [Calvin Pickard (#30)], [Andrew Mangiapane (#88)], [Troy Stecher (#51)], [Ty Emberson (#49)], and [Isaac Howard (#53)].

Also joining the fun were Ashley Callingbull (NHL Game Host and Miss Universe Canada) and Cecily Eklund, a 12-year-old philanthropist, brain cancer warrior, and true inspiration to everyone in attendance.

While we are proud supporters and donors of the Kids with Cancer Society Edmonton, nothing compares to seeing the pure joy on the faces of children meeting their hockey heroes. These moments of connection where courage meets community are what truly drive our commitment to giving back.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this day possible:
our Dealer Principal Bob Aaltonen, the dedicated team at Kids with Cancer Society Edmonton, Ashley Callingbull, Cecily Eklund and her family, and the Edmonton Oilers players who took time out of their busy schedules to bring smiles to the ice.

Because when our community comes together -- on and off the rink -- we all win.
